Do you have (or allow) yourself to have a picture in your mind of what it would feel like to be at your optimal health? Vibrant at any age? You know that picture deep in your mind? That place where you imagine yourself to be?
But that little voice says to you "you can't get there - it's just a dream!"
Why does that beautiful vision have to be just a dream? What is standing in your way to make it a reality?
Creating Your Health Vision
The process of visioning helps you always move forward in the direction of your vision. Your vision becomes your "North Star". I also like to think of my vision of my optimal self as an anchor. It's an anchor in a good way and reminds me to stay on track with my health goals - whether eating in a way that works for me, or getting my rear end moving instead of sitting and working.
When habits and auto-pilot behaviors take you off-course, your vision is a beautiful and gentle reminder to get back on track and to head in the direction of your choosing.
What is your vision is fuzzy? What if your vision changes constantly?
There are some ideas to further develop your health vision including:
- Making a physical vision board by cutting out and collaging magazine pictures on a poster board. Select pictures that inspire and motivate you.
- Making a virtual vision board by pasting pictures into an electronic document, using Pinterest or Houzz.
- Writing a description of your vision and making a word cloud using Wordclouds.
- Listening to Patti Dobrowolski's TED Talk about drawing a picture.
