It’s An Iceberg
You’ve probably all seen this picture of an iceberg used in many different analogies.
Be concerned with what you can’t see. For therein lies the truth.
– Kara Dowdall, 2018
When it comes to your health, your body will produce (eventually) outward symptoms. Allergies, stomach upset, a mysterious rash near your joints that won’t go away, headaches. And so on and so on.
I had the privilege of attending the Institute for Functional Medicine Annual International Conference (#AIC2018) this year and it was focused on Autoimmunity. So many amazing scientists, physicians and researchers looking for answers to why our bodies revolt against us and start breaking down our cells – and what we can do to not only stop these diseases that affect 50 million people in the US alone.
Of all the wisdom (and science) in the room, one of the quotes that stood out to me was:
Chronic illness is a signal to change.
We have so much within our control. We don’t have to get a prescription for our illness. We can dig in deep, make changes and put the work in to save our own lives. If you don’t know where to start but know you want to change and embrace your life, contact me and I’ll get you to some resources. I love changing lives – let’s start with yours!
