Stools and Tacks?Autoimmune diseases are the most prevalent form of chronic illness in this country, now affecting almost 50 million Americans. There are around 145 diseases now classified as autoimmune. Autoimmune diseases are reversible and curable if caught early before they progress and cause severe pain, disability, and even death. Reversing a chronic disease takes […]
Autoimmune DiagnosisDid you recently get a “label” aka “diagnosis from your physician? Told you have Graves Disease, Hashimoto’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis or one of the other over 100 autoimmune diagnoses? Do you feel overwhelmed, scared or perhaps relieved? It is not uncommon to have had symptoms over over five years and bounced around from doctor to doctor in […]
Years ago, I remember getting those postcards in the mail a couple weeks after my annual physical that read:”All looks good. See you next year!”Wait, what? All good? I would then proceed to call back to my primary care physician’s office, get put on hold, finally reach someone and ask for a copy of my […]
I have something to admit and share about my own personal health journey and how I got where I am today with the help of essential oils. About 4.5 years ago, I had a terrible sleep problem. I found myself unable to fall asleep and unable to stay asleep. My life was chaotic. A very […]
We’ve heard a lot about the gut, digestion and the microbiome recently. What about the interplay and connections between the gastrointestinal microbiome and estrogen metabolism? There is some current research that shows that our gastrointestinal microbiome affects estrogen levels in our bodies. The Gut Microbiome and Estrogen LevelsWe are learning that one function of the GI […]
Am I actually writing this blog post, sharing information about an over-the-counter brand of medicine? You bet I am! In fact, I’m here on their website. Recently during one of my functional medicine conferences, I was introduced to this new company called Genexa. Genexa was promoting cleaner, certified organic, non-GMO medicines and so they got my […]
The United States has a sick-care system, not a health care system. Check out these key statistics:Roughly 75% of healthcare spending goes to treating disease, which is preventable! (Source: Centers for Disease Control)American healthcare costs are rising so rapidly that they could reach 4.2 trillion annually, roughly 20% of our gross domestic product, within ten […]
Years ago, I underwent an upper GI endoscopy. My follow-up visit consisted of being handed a prescription for Prevacid and told I would need to be on it the rest of my life. That made zero sense to me and I went home, looked up the side effects (depression!) and threw the prescription in the […]
Years ago, we were told to eat frequently (“grazing”) to improve our metabolism. Well, it turns out, that for most people, that wasn’t the most sound advice. Turns out that your body needs a break from digestion, so eating here-and-there all the time is often counterproductive. Continue Reading
Our immune system lives in our gut – 50 to 70% of our immune system lives there. A few years ago, connecting the gut to the immune system was a novel concept. We looked at what we ate as distinct and independent from how we felt. We assumed that every illness was externally obtained – from […]
Truly focused on helping me improve my health and overall quality of life. I just had my first online call with Kara, and it was AWESOME! She provided such clarity in describing the issues and things she saw in my lab results that were concerning to her. It is clear that she is truly focused on helping me to improve my health and overall quality of life. I got more helpful and practical information (tailored specifically to ME) in one meeting with Kara than I have received from the other 3 doctors I have been seeing recently to help improve my health. The follow-up information after our meeting was so easy to understand and to implement. I can’t thank Kara and Life Hub Center enough! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are truly a blessing!!

I am back to living fully! Before working with Kara, I felt sub-par pretty much all the time. I was tired, overweight and pretty much apathetic about life. I missed the old me. My doctor told me that I was depressed and I should see a therapist. He told me my labs were normal. Like a “health detective”, Kara was able to identify a problem that was buried in my labs and health history. With this information, and she coached me through getting my health back in balance. Now both my body and mind feel more stable and energetic than ever, and I know how to take care of myself and advocate for my own health as well. Kara is so widely knowledgeable about health issues, and at the same time, very understanding and caring. If you are ready to quit swirling and want to feel great again, I highly encourage you to work with Kara.

Do Yourself a Favor. I would strongly encourage anyone reading this to sign up for Kara’s three-month program. It takes awhile to unravel a lifetime of contributors to illness. Step by step, Kara was like a medical detective, asking questions and researching until one-by-one, she was able to figure out what went wrong with my health – AND how to fix it. She helped me make the changes in my life so I could start to feel better – and get to the root cause of my illness. I didn’t know what “functional medicine coaching” was until I started working with her. Since then, my energy is improved, my brain fog is GONE, I’ve lost weight and I’m better managing stress. Oh and no more stomach aches and erratic bowels! I continue to work with Kara monthly to make sure that my labs remain optimal and so my healing journey continues. I look forward to our monthly check-in!

Compassionate + Knowledgeable. Kara is very knowledgeable on top of being compassionate and caring. She understands what I’m going through because she has also been through health challenges and a lot of stress. Kara was able to identify major issues that were standing in the way of my health that even my own doctor missed. Once I got those areas identified, she helped me implement solutions – and that made all the difference to my health. I am so very grateful for her!!

Priceless Mentoring + Guidance. I had been taking a PPI for 4 months after being diagnosed with a possible peptic ulcer in July 2017. At the beginning of November, I started having extreme stomach issues which included: heartburn, nausea, vomiting, bloating and lower abdominal pain. I was already having trouble managing my hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s – suffering from brain fog, extreme fatigue, weight gain, insomnia and many other ailments! I reached out to Kara and she immediately started me on a 10-day detox plan to help promote gut health and she also suggested supplements to help get my stomach back on track so that it could start properly digesting food again. (I chose at that time to stop taking the PPI). Through this process of healing, Kara has educated me on how auto-immune diseases such as Hashimoto’s affects the body and what foods would support recovery and remission. Her compassion and ability to explain in terms I could easily understand what was going on inside my body and why it was reacting as it was along with her knowledge of healing foods and supplements have been PRICELESS! She taught me that we must nurture both the mind AND the body. I am very happy to report that I no longer suffer from the stomach issues, I’ve lost 16 pounds, I am sleeping better, I have a lot more energy, brain fog has lifted and my hair and nails are growing again!! Thank you Kara for vastly improving my quality of life! You saved my life and I could never have done it without you!
